Thank you to everyone who joined us at The Green Man for Disability Awareness Day! Over 50 Phoenix residents, staff and local people joined for an evening to raise disability awareness in the community.

Event goers enjoyed panel discussions, free food prepared by The Green Man Café, workshops, information stalls and a tie-dye activity.

Guest speakers included our founding tenant Chair, Pat Fordham MBE, Phoenix resident Chantelle Francois-Grimes, para-athlete silver medallist and business owner, Samantha Bullock and our Head of Planned Maintenance, John Ball.

Chantelle Francois-Grimes, Phoenix resident and guest speaker, said: “I decided to share the experiences of my family at the event today because there are so many neurodiverse families living in silence and I want them to know they are not alone.”

Simon Barlow, resident and Vice Chair of Phoenix Community Housing, said: “Having a disability can significantly change your everyday life, or it can have smaller subtler implications. Everyone deserves an equal level of respect and kindness and events like this are vital to raise awareness and understanding in our community.”
