The Phoenix Academy is our 'school of social housing'.
Set up in 2014, the academy aims to encourage more residents to become involved with Phoenix and potentially take up future positions on our resident-led Board.
Of the nearly 180 previous graduates of the Academy, two have become Phoenix Board Members, others have joined the Scrutiny Committee, and more are involved at all levels of governance.
The course - which is delivered by Phoenix staff and residents - focuses on the history of social housing, asset management, housing finance, models of governance and more. It has now received official accreditation from the Chartered Institute of Housing (CIH).
The 2019 course is now closed but please look out for more information about the 2020 programme.
The Phoenix Academy is now in its fifth year and saw 24 people graduate from the programme in 2018, including Phoenix residents, staff and residents of other local housing associations.
The course is free for Phoenix residents and £30 per session for non-residents (or £20 per session if you commit to the whole programme).
We now also offer a more advanced course for those who take part to gain a Level 2 qualification.
This course focuses on the following topics:
