New outdoor gym for residents in Downham

We are proud to have supported Sevenfields Primary Care Network with funding to launch a new outdoor gym at Shroffold Green in Downham.

The new outdoor gym, launched on Saturday 29 October, is one of four adult gyms delivered by Sevenfields Primary Care Network as part of a new “Walkout, workout” programme which promotes the benefits of movement and getting outside.  

The “Walkout, workout” launch stopped at all four outdoor gym locations: Mountsfield Park, Forster Park, Shroffold Green and Durham Hill.

Attendees took part in circuit training and guided workouts with the help of Community Coach, Jamiel.

Phoenix Community Housing Chief Executive, Denise Fowler, said: “I really enjoyed joining the walk on Saturday and it’s been great to work in partnership with Sevenfields Primary Care Network and Lewisham Council to provide this new gym equipment on Shroffold Green. As one of our largest play areas, the addition of new gym equipment will support people of all age groups to get moving. Everyone should be able to enjoy some of our areas most beautiful spaces and it’s fantastic to see the work going in to supporting a more active borough.”

The Phoenix Estates Services Team will be responsible for the maintenance of the new equipment at Shroffold Green which will now be included as part of our regular safety inspections.
