Changes to your rent

Updated: 25 February 2022 at 11:50am

At Phoenix, we review the rents for our homes annually. Your rent helps to pay for the services you receive as a Phoenix tenant. This week you will have received your annual rent letter week, which may include information about your rent increase.

To help you understand the rent increase and answer any questions, we have created a booklet that provides more information about how we set rent, how to pay and the support available to you to help you pay your rent.

Carmen Simpson, tenant and Chair of Phoenix Community Housing, said: “Raising our rents has been a difficult decision. We’ve always tried to keep rents low at Phoenix, and they are some of the lowest in Lewisham.

“Our priority is to continue to provide high-quality services and invest in our homes. We also want to build more housing, which is urgently needed, and need to consider how we can continue to tackle the housing crisis in this volatile period and with rising inflation.

“We want to make sure that everyone is supported. We are here to help, so please contact us.”

If you have any questions about your rent and service charges or benefits or are worried about how you will pay your rent, please contact us. We are here to help. We offer advice on benefits and budgeting and can put you in touch with specialist organisations who may be able to help.

Citizens Advice can also provide free advice, and Phoenix residents can meet with a Citizens Advice advisor. Please get in touch with us to book an appointment.
