Thank you to the 80 Phoenix families who took part in this year’s Summer Fun – at home!
Every year during the Summer holidays, Phoenix Community Housing host Summer Fun events on greens across our estates, for our Phoenix community to have fun and get involved with Phoenix. This year Summer Fun happened a little differently due to lockdown restrictions. Instead of bringing activities to our estates, we took them straight into the homes of our residents through a series of online workshops. We held 20 fantastic online activities and workshops for residents of all ages.
Activities included interactive cooking classes, an electronics workshop to build your own robot, dance class, reptile zoo, creative writing workshop and much more!
We also gave away 128 activity packs stuffed with puzzles, electronics kits, sewing kits, seeds and plant pots, arts and crafts, bird and butterfly feeders and more, to Phoenix families.
We are a resident-led housing association and this commitment wasn't lost during lockdown. Phoenix residents were involved in designing and developing this year's Summer Fun programme and helped to run a number of the sessions.
Our youth programme #BEin ran sessions developed for our teen residents. They planned and delivered four fantastic workshops with special guest hosts, covering topics including careers advice and personal finance.
The Phoenix Family Forum also got involved, delivering a series of evening workshops for adults, with a work-from-home workout to dressing for success and emotional freedom tapping. You can find the full programme of this year’s activities here.
Phoenix resident, Dorelda Bryan-Smith, said: "The kids enjoyed the workshops. It was a great idea as they were able to try new things in a safe environment, considering the current circumstances.”
Thank you to all of the Phoenix residents and families involved in this year's Summer Fun programme!
