Do you want to become a social housing expert? Applications are now open for the Phoenix Academy, our unique school of social housing.
This year's course runs every Tuesday from 23 April to 18 June, from 5-7pm. Everyone is welcome, including non-Phoenix residents and regardless of your existing knowledge of the subject.
The Academy is not only a great way to get more involved with Phoenix and your community, it can also be an opening to careers in housing and other sectors.
The course - which is delivered by Phoenix staff and residents - focuses on the history of social housing, asset management, housing finance, models of governance and more. Earlier this year it received official accreditation from the Chartered Institute of Housing (CIH).
The Phoenix Academy is now in its fifth year and saw 24 people graduate from the programme in 2018, including Phoenix residents, staff and residents of other local housing associations.
The course is free for Phoenix residents and £30 per session for non-residents (or £20 per session if you commit to the whole programme).

The Phoenix Academy was first set up in 2014. Among the aims is to encourage more residents to become involved with Phoenix and potentially take up future positions on our resident-led Board.
Of the 67 previous graduates of the Academy, two have become Phoenix Board Members, others have joined the Scrutiny Committee, and others are involved at all levels of governance. Many have also gone on to further CIH qualifications.
Phoenix residents Gloria, and Norja speak about their experience of the Phoenix Academy and why they think that more people should join the Phoenix 'school of social housing'.
