Residents celebrated at annual gardening competition

Updated: 2 September 2016 at 10:25am

Guests enjoyed glorious sunshine at our annual ceremony for Phoenix in Bloom at Farmstead Road Community Gardens. The event was our chance to celebrate and reward resident winners of our gardening competition, who have helped make our area a brighter, greener place to live, work and play.

This year we received a record number of entries and each green space was judged by our resident-led judging panel and scored accordingly. The standard for the gardens and balconies was incredibly high, making it difficult to choose a winner for each category.

One of our resident judges, Patrice Newman-Sheaf had this to say: “I have been a judge for four years and I absolutely love doing it. I really enjoy meeting other people and seeing their garden masterpieces.”

Phoenix Chief Executive, Jim Ripley said: “Phoenix in Bloom is a fantastic opportunity to bring our community together and celebrate our most green-fingered residents! It’s wonderful to see the popularity of the competition increase and I want to thank everyone who contributes to making our area green and pleasant.”

Thank you to everyone who participated in the competition, including our resident judges who volunteered to judge the entries.
