Reindeer pull in the crowds at Christmas Community Links

Updated: 3 December 2018 at 16:24pm

Hundreds of Phoenix residents and people from across our community enjoyed the chance to meet Mrs Claus and her reindeer, their neighbours and our teams at our annual Christmas Community Links gathering.

Thank you to everyone who came along to enjoy mulled juices, cookie decorating, wreath making and so much more on Saturday 1 December.

Residents enjoyed live performances from members of the Phoenix team, a Fifa 19 gaming competition – with the chance to win a copy – and meeting Mrs Claus in her grotto.

The reindeer that visit The Green Man pulled in the crowds, and this year were joined by a special guest. The Rodeo Reindeer, a festive version of the bucking bronco, was enjoyed by people of all ages throughout the afternoon.

Christmas Community Links is just one of the events Phoenix runs over the course of the year to meet residents and hear your views on how we’re doing and our services.

We also partnered with St John’s, Catford, next door, on a themed dressing-up competition and nativity performed by children.

Dominique Bufield, a Phoenix resident, said: “I just love these days. Everyone is so friendly and welcoming. They make it really fun for the children.”

Jim Ripley, Chief Executive of Phoenix, said: “Christmas Community Links was as fantastic as ever. As a resident-led housing association, we are willing to be different. It’s important to us that we not only provide excellent services and listen to what residents are saying, but that we also bring our community together at events like this.”

Anne McGurk, tenant and Chair of Phoenix, said: “Community Links is simply the best way to start Christmas.”

Thanks to our sponsors: Planet Turf, AD Construction Group, and Oxleas Tree Care.

Phoenix will be hosting its next Community Links event on Wednesday 20 February 2019 from 5-7pm at The Green Man, 355 Bromley Road, SE6 2RP – stay tuned for more information!
