Proposals for new homes on the Ravensbourne Estate - tell us what you think

Updated: 13 October 2020 at 10:00am

This consultation has now closed. Thank you to everyone who took part.

There is a major shortage of affordable housing in Lewisham and Bromley, across London and other parts of the country. Phoenix Community Housing is committed to tackling this problem by building new, high-quality homes.

As a resident-led and community-based housing association, we want to involve neighbours and the broader community whenever we develop plans to build new homes,  to help ease this crisis, and believe the best results are achieved when residents and staff work together.

We have developed proposals for 21 new affordable homes on the Ravensbourne Estate, BR1, and are inviting neighbouring residents to give their views on these proposals.

We value the views and contributions of local residents and will work to ensure your feedback is considered in our proposals before we submit a planning application to Lewisham Council later this year.

About our proposals

We’ve developed proposals to build 21 affordable homes for rent in two new blocks on land next to the Community Centre site and the garage site between Beverley and Wandle House, BR1 4LW. If our plans are approved the Community Centre and garages will need to be demolished in order to access the site. The 21 new homes will include a mix of one, two and three bedroom flats including two wheelchair accessible homes.

Our plans also include a new community room on the ground floor of one of the blocks, which will replace the existing community centre on the estate, along with a new communal courtyard and new play areas and environmental works.

We began consultation with residents of the estate and neighbouring residents in 2018 - the feedback we've received previously has helped to shape these latest proposals.

Resident consultation - give us your views

We have written to neighbouring residents to share our proposals and have invited their feedback and questions as part of this consultation. You can take part in this consultation online by reviewing the architect’s information sheet and our introductory letter and by completing this online form by Sunday 1 November 2020.

If you would like to talk to someone about the proposals either by telephone or in person, please contact us and ask to speak to the Development Team.

We intend to submit our proposals to Lewisham Council for planning permission later this year.
