We’re taking part in National Scrutiny Week 2020 and members of our Resident Scrutiny Panel will be sharing their experiences and expertise in an online roundtable and blog.
Run by tenancy engagement experts, Tpas England, this is the first ever National Scrutiny Week.
Celebrating the role of resident scrutiny in housing associations and highlighting when it’s done well, Phoenix will share our experiences and why we think resident scrutiny is so important throughout the week.
Since it was first established, our Resident Scrutiny Panel has completed 11 reviews into service areas as diverse as the role of our Housing Officers and our garden scheme.
One example of the Resident Scrutiny Panel’s impact on Phoenix Community Housing’s services includes on our out-of-hours contact centre. Their recommendations led to residents receiving a better service and a 31% value for money saving on the current spend.
To date, 54 recommendations have been accepted by our Board and implemented in our services, with more in progress.
Chantel Lynch, Service Improvement and Scrutiny Manager, said: “The panel helps keep us on a path of continuous improvement. Embracing resident involvement and empowerment is nothing to fear. It commits housing associations to bring about lasting change for not just their residents but the wider community.”
Chantel and Simon Barlow, Phoenix tenant Board Member and former member of ourResident Scrutiny Panel, will be hosting a roundtable to help kick off the week on Tpas England’s YouTube channel at 2pm on Monday 27 July.
The summary reviews of the Resident Scrutiny Panel can be found on our website here.
