Phoenix named UK's third best landlord

Updated: 12 July 2018 at 14:29pm

We are delighted to be named as one of the UK’s top 10 landlords for the fourth year running as we celebrate our first ten years as London’s first resident-led housing association.

Phoenix has been named Britain's third best landlord by 24housing magazine in their annual list of the 50 top housing associations in the country.

Our listing recognises all that has been achieved in our first ten years as a resident owned and led housing association. Since residents campaigned to create Phoenix in 2007, more than 3,200 residents have opted to become shareholding members.

Ten years on, resident leadership and membership remains at the heart of all that we do and we consider our model of engagement and involvement key to our successes and future ambitions.

This year we’ve seen:

  • completion of our first residential development – an award-winning 60-home extra care scheme offering older people quality accommodation while freeing up family size homes.
  • our pioneering work to support hoarders benefit 46 households
  • the start of our lottery-funded restoration of The Fellowship Inn – bringing a huge semi-derelict pub back to life with a cinema, live venue and new jobs and apprenticeships in one of the UK’s most deprived areas.
  • CIH accreditation for the Phoenix Academy – our unique ‘school of social housing’ to develop future resident Board Members.

Phoenix Chief Executive Jim Ripley said: “It’s a fantastic achievement to be named as one of the country’s top landlords.

“This is recognition of everything that has been achieved by our residents and staff over the last ten years, and a brilliant start to our second decade working together to deliver excellent service and to build a community in our area of London that people feel proud of.”
