Love at first sight?

Here at Phoenix, our first mutual exchange speed dating event has just taken place.

The session was a chance for residents who had expressed a desire to downsize were able to meet with families who were looking for a larger property in the area.

More than 50 households attended the event that was organised by Gateway Local Advisors Geraldine O'Callaghan and Mary Denne.

With the current housing shortage the government introduced an under-occupation penalty, which is more widely known as the bedroom tax, back in 2013. The scheme has been brought in to encourage tenants who have spare rooms to downsize so that larger families can be housed in homes more suitable for their needs.
