Hundreds enjoy our Christmas festival at Community Links

Updated: 9 December 2019 at 11:37am

A big festive thank you to everyone who joined us at our biggest Community Links ever.

Hundreds of residents and others from our community enjoyed their chance to meet Father Christmas, his trusty sidekick reindeer and your neighbours at our free event that each year kicks-off the festive season.

Community Links drew in nearly 500 of you for a free afternoon with live entertainment, free food and games, and activities for young and old.

Event-goers sang their way into the Christmas spirit with a festive karaoke, decorated Christmas cookies thanks to our friends in the Training Kitchen, enjoyed virtual snowboarding and passed on any last minute wishes to Santa in his grotto.

Carmen Simpson, our Vice Chair, said: “I’ve seen Phoenix residents and people who don’t live in our homes. I’ve seen children and older people and everyone here today, participating together. I love this event because it’s a celebration of our community that brings people together.”

Community Links is one of the events each year that are your chance to meet our team and your neighbours, as well as to give us your views on our services and find out more about how you can get involved.

We hold events to meet our residents over the course of the year, including the Phoenix Festival in spring and Chat & Chips over the summer.

Thanks also to our friends and partners in the community such as Chartwells, Lewisham Council and St John’s Catford. Thanks also to our sponsors whose generosity made the event possible, including Greener Solutions, Liquid RS, AD Construction, Bridge Recruitment, Oxleas Tree Care, Potter Raper, Planet Turf, 1Life, and the Phoenix Repairs Service.

Community Links will be back on Wednesday 19 February from 5-7pm at The Green Man.
