A huge thanks to everyone who joined us at the Phoenix Festival 2019!
Nearly 4,000 people flocked to Forster Park on 11 May to enjoy spectacular live music, food and drink, and entertainment to suit the whole family.
Our headline act, the chart-topping Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Choir, entertained the crowds with their covers of popular classics including ‘Fix You’ and ‘Shallow’. Attendees also enjoyed performances from other acts including Sienna, , Vocal Velvet, and the Cosimo Keita Organ Trio.
Other attractions included: climbing walls
Danielle Taylor, who attended with her daughter, said: “We came last year and we really enjoyed it. I just think this kind of thing is amazing. It’s really good to get the community together."
Jim Ripley, Chief Executive of Phoenix, said: “The Phoenix Festival: fun, thrills and our south London family. We look forward to this event every year because it’s as special every year. The Festival, and this year’s “local” theme, is our way of celebrating the incredible talent and potential of our community – and we can’t wait for everything else we have in store this year.”
Janet Daby, MP for Lewisham East and former Phoenix Board member who opened the festival, said: “Phoenix is clearly an example to other social housing providers and I am pleased to have them playing an active part in my community.
I was delighted to open the Phoenix Festival on Saturday. It is such a great local event bringing the community together and offering many family activities. I look forward to the one next year!”
Those who may not have been able to make the festival will be able to re-live its attractions at our Summer Fun events over the school holidays. Our younger residents and their families can enjoy bouncy castles, face-painting and much more in parks and play areas every Thursday from 25 July, with all the details on our website.
The Phoenix Festival was made possible by the support of organisations including A D Construction, European Asbestos, Amalgamated Lifts, Bridge Recruitment, Castleton, Easy Copiers, H20, Oxleas Tree Care, Owen Construction, Pellings, the Pension Insurance Corporation, Planet Turf and Saltash and other generous donors.
