£120,000 up for grabs for community projects!

Updated: 10 January 2022 at 13:58pm

Local community organisations and projects can now apply for a share of £120,000 Community Chest fund to benefit our residents in 2022/23.

Each year the Phoenix Community Chest awards small grants of up to £2,500 and large grants of up to £20,000 to local community projects that will benefit our residents. A wide range of projects have won in previous years including, dance workshops, holiday activities for young people, energy advice schemes, and a women’s football team.

If you’re a local community organisation or project who benefits residents in Downham, Bellingham, Whitefoot and Grove Park, you can apply for a share of the money.

Phoenix resident and Chair of the Board, Carmen Simpson said: “If you’re a local group or project I’d strongly encourage you to apply. This pot of money has helped so many projects over the years to carry on or expand the amazing work they do. Whether you go for a small or large grant – don’t miss your chance to win a share of £120,000!”

Phoenix Chief Executive, Jim Ripley, said: “We’ve recently taken on 1,300 new homes in Grove Park and so this year we’re giving away an extra £20,000 to reflect this. I’m really looking forward to seeing who applies this year and hope we’ll get some Grove Park groups applying!”

Applications close on Wednesday 2 March. Click here to view the application toolkit and apply.

If you'd like to apply but need some help, we'll be running applicant support sessions on the following dates:

Small grant winners will be decided by our resident-led evaluation panel. Projects looking for a grant worth up to £20,000 will be shortlisted by our panel for our tentants to vote for their favourite projects.  Voting will open in  late April.

Good luck – and thank you for your application to make our community a better place.
